We are back… This time with a description of our cruise through the Panama Canal. It was a portion of our circuit from home in the midwest to LA, in the middle we go through the canal, landing in Fort Lauderdale, then a flight back home. Beautiful sunset off the deck of the Zaandam.

An amazing engineering feat, one mile long. This bridge is at the west end of the Panama Canal.

Check out the scale of these container cranes ! That is a 50 foot container being lifted. Of course the Port of Panama is important because some containers do not go through the canal due to the high cost, but they get unloaded onto rail and picked up on the other side.

This Cathedral has quite an interesting history and has been destroyed several times throughout its history. It is still quite a beautiful place.
