Underground and Bus

The best way to get around

The best way to get around in London is public transportation. Traffic is really difficult. Taxis are available but wow, expensive and slow. Busses are slow too, they must hassle with the traffic. However, sometimes they are the most direct route. You can use your credit card on the bus. Tap the card on the reader when you get on – no need to tap when you get off. They are the second best way to get around. The best way is the tube, the underground. To use the Underground, tape your credit card on the reader at the entrance to your platform, then tap again when you leave the station.

The BBC Proms

The BBC Proms is an annual eight-week summer season of daily orchestral classical music concerts and other events, predominantly held at the Royal Albert Hall in London1. Founded in 1895 by Robert Newman, the Proms have been organized and broadcast by the BBC since 1927.

The Proms feature a wide variety of performances, from classical masterpieces to contemporary works, and often include special themed events. This year, highlights include Beethoven’s Ninth Symphony, a Doctor Who Prom, and a celebration of Henry Mancini’s music.

Prom 26: Beethoven, Brahms and Sarah Gibson
Royal Albert Hall
In this Prom from Anja Bihlmaier and the BBC Philharmonic, Brahms’s Symphony No. 4 is balanced by the outpouring of joy that is Beethoven’s Violin Concerto – featuring soloist Tobias Feldmann – plus Sarah Gibson’s warp & weft.

Of course these performances are one one night… so when you go, if you go during Proms eight week season, you will be seeing and hearing something different

A new public garden opposite St Paul’s Cathedral has been unveiled.

The focal point of the garden at 25 Cannon Street is a reflection pool, creating a doubled view of St Paul’s dome as it is mirrored in the water.

A collaboration between the City of London Corporation, international real estate company Pembroke and landscape design practice Tom Stuart-Smith, the Reflection Garden will complement the City Corporation’s plans to ensure the Square Mile is a vibrant destination for leisure as well as work.
